Our beautiful Akita Kiya had puppies again...this is her 2nd and FINAL liter. She will be getting fixed after this liter of puppies are wheened. She had 2 females and 3 males this time. They are full of energy, rambunctious and adorable! Well...why don't you be the judge of that!

Ryan and a couple of his friends (Trevor & Justin) decided to run their 1st Triatholon. It was the LumberJack Triatholon and it took place in Cadillac, MI. We are very proud of him as we watched him train for this event. Swim, Bike, Run...is the order of events.

BAYS Swim meets - Our "little star"...

In December, Bailey joined the BAYS (Bay Area Youth Swim) Club. Bailey LOVES to swim!! This is something new for her as it is competitive swim. She is doing well for only having two months of specific training (practice 1 hour a day - 5 days/week), she can do all four strokes. Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and the Breaststroke. It is amazing at such a young age - kids can learn these things. If I had to pick her best stroke - I'd have to pick the "Breaststroke". Here are some pictures for you to enjoy...

Our Leavitt Family gift this year was a Wii and we have definitely got our fun out of it already. Here's some pictures of Kierra boxing ... it was pretty loud in our living room while she was playing. Everyone was getting such a kick out of watching her, so we were cheering her on. Whether or not she knew what she was doing in the game, she was getting a reaction out of the crowd. So she just kept on doing what she was doing...It was quite hillarious!

Happy New Year from the Leavitt Family!! Almost thought that I wouldn’t have time, but I found a few extra minutes while Bailey had a friend over today. The Christmas Season is my favorite holiday of the year. I love coming home and plugging in the Christmas tree and seeing all the beautiful light displays. I enjoy this time of year because of the extra time we get to spend with family.

Life at the Leavitt household is very busy these days. I miss the days where we would all sit around the dinner table and talk about our day. Ryan (21) is still taking classes at Delta College while he waits to start his clinicals to become a Physical Therapy Assistant. I’ve been told sometimes the waiting list takes two years. Ryan got a new job as a Teller at Chemical Bank this year. It’s different seeing him dress up in a shirt and tie to head off to work…but I’d have to say I like it. Jimmy (19) is a freshman at SVSU and is fully engaged in his nursing classes. I truly believe that he is enjoying the college scene!! He also got a new job as a host at Ruby Tuesday’s. If you’re in the area, stop by Ruby Tuesday’s and maybe Jimmy will show you to your seat!J Brett (17) is a junior at John Glenn. Football season was great ~ he’s pretty talented. Brett got a chance to explore New York City with a friend earlier this month and as he’d say “New York City - Rocks”. He’s constantly on the road with friends. Still no job – but we’ve really been hinting. Hopefully Soon!! Our little Bailey (7) has really taken us down a path not frequently traveled this year. As some of you know, this fall Bailey got a bacterial staff infection which settled in her left hip and caused a bone infection. It’s through God’s grace that she is healthy today – but we had some scary days there for a while. Bailey is in 2nd grade and loves reading and math. Her new adventure is joining BAYS swim club. It is competitive swim where we actually have meets against tri-city swim teams. So far she’s loving it ~ I guess we’ll see!

Jim and I were fortunate enough to get a seasonal lot up at Mesick this past summer. Our entire family absolutely loves this place. It is a home away from home and the air we breathe up there just brings us peace. Lots of memories made by all! Jim’s still at Bay Medical and I am still at Bay-Arenac Career Center. This year, I enrolled at Ferris State to work on my Master’s in Education…I never thought I’d go back, but I am! Fun…Fun!

Our wish for you and your family this year is “Good Health” as that is fresh on our minds. Take a moment to truly embrace your family and enjoy spending time together this season! We love you all ~ as we recall the memories we’ve made with you. May God bring you and your family a year full of blessings!!

Bailey...Update!!

On Monday, Jim took Bailey down to Beaumont for a final x-ray. Everything came out ok on the x-ray so they took her pic line out! HURRAY!!! Bailey was sooooo excited. The first thing she said to me when I got home is "Mama, I'm normal now!!" We had a little celebration and danced in the kitchen. She showed me her little bandaid on her arm and said that it didn't even hurt to get it out. She is such a brave little girl. We are extremely thankful that God has healed our baby girl. She is very excited to be able to participate in Gym class again and going outdoors at recess time. She's definitely back to normal!!

Thanks to all of you who lifted our family up during this little storm!

The Fall Season is over...

Today was "the Cheetah's" final game for the Fall Soccer Season. Although Bailey hasn't been able to play because of her restrictions (3 more weeks) she has been attending the last three games to cheer on her teammates. Here are a few pictures to share..."The Cheetah's"

Hi Everyone!! Today was the day we went back to school. I was a nervous wreck...but Bailey was just fine. She told me last night...."Mama, you worry too much." I can't help it, she's my baby! Thanks again for all the friendly support and prayers that you have given. We are truely blessed for having great friends and family.

Another shout out to my ENTIRE FAMILY...I just want to say "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH." Thank you for all the support that you have given us, we wouldn't have made it through this without your support.

Well, TODAY IS THE DAY!!! We are going home...Yahoo!! The MRI that they had "tenatively" scheduled does not have to happen because her CRP level is coming down. We are just waiting on the paperwork side of things to happen. The continuing care people have to talk to our Home Care Health people in Bay City to arrange a certain time to meet Jim & I at home, so we can be trained on administering Bailey's antibiotics through her pic line. The Dr's. are telling us that whenever we are comfortable about sending Bailey back to school, she can go back. I think we are looking at Wednesday - and she is VERY excited about that. Things are looking up and we are VERY thankful for that! Thanks to all who said a prayer for us...we really appreciate it.

Well, today has been a BIG day. Bailey got taken to Pediatric ICU to have her pic line put in about 9:45am, and we got back in the room at about 11:45am. It took longer then I was expecting. The procedure actually didn't take that long, we were only away from Bailey for about 15 minutes. After they put the pic line in, they have to x-ray her chest to make sure that they got it in the right place. Well, they didn't get it perfect on the 1st try, so they had to go in again and replace the line. Bailey was out for all of this, she was just sleeping peaceful. After we got the OK that everything was fine with the pic line, they decided it was ok to take her other IV out of her hand. So now we are hand-free...yahoo!! The wonderful thing about this is, she won't have to get poked every time they need to draw blood anymore. They can just get it from the pic line. Bailey was such a brave girl...she did great!! Ok Everybody...I'm asking everyone I know the pray the same prayer this entire weekend. "Please pray that Bailey's CRP level comes down" (this means that the antibiotics are working on her bone infection). They have a MRI "tentatively" scheduled for Monday. Currently her number is 7, normal is below .8 - if her number stays elavated that probably means that she has an abscess in the hip. So they would do another MRI to check her hip.

I'm believing God is healing my little girl!!

After Bailey got back to her room, she had a nice surprise - VISITORS! She had a wonderful day playing with her cousins and talking with everyone. They spent a couple hours playing in the "Garden Center".

Bailey and I decided to come down to the Children's Garden Center room so that we could play on the computer, read books and get out of our room. It is so wonderful that they have a place like this for children. Here are a couple pictures of Bailey & I on our adventure to the Garden Center yesterday...they had a special day with Disney on Ice Characters. Enjoy!!

Well, it sounds like Bailey will have her "pic line" put in tomorrow morning at about 10:00am, so if you think of us around that time - pray that she is not scared and that everything goes smoothly. Personnally on the Mom note - pray for me to hold it together in her presence before she is put under (that is the hardest for me). The Orthopedic doctor seems to think there might be an abscess in the left hip bone (either that or it could be additional blood as a result of her abstraction done on Sunday) so he wants to do another MRI on Monday to decide whether further treatment is needed.

We are going on 2 nights now of Bailey not having a fever...Thank you God! She still has pain in her hip when she walks, so they give her motrin when needed. The blood culture that they last took shows that it is negative, which means that the staph infection in her blood is going away. The bloodwork still shows that her CRP level is high (normal is below .8 and her level is 7) which means she has a bacterial infection somewhere and we know it's in her bone. Her appetite is definitely coming back - French Toast for breakfast today...whahoo!!

Right now they are waiting to see how the antibiotics will work on the infection. Her Dr. is also waiting to hear from the Orthopedic Dr. to see what he says about the fluid in her hip. Meaning...the two of them will talk to see if he thinks it's necessary to do anything besides the antibiotics (I don't want to say it...the "S" word-surgery) Pray that she won't have to go through that. They have told us that Bailey will have to be on Antibiotics for 4-6 weeks. They are talking about having a "pic line" put in so that we can give her antibiotic treatments at home.

Bailey likes reading the responses on her blog, it really brightens her day.

Ok, we made it down to Beaumont Hospital last night about 11:30pm...whew! Ambulance ride was a first for both Bailey and myself. I'd have to say that you feel EVERY bump in the road and it was a long 2 hour ride. Bailey had the most comfy ride of us all! We are in room 5331 in the South Building. Beaumont(Royal Oak) is a HUGE place and we are being taken care of. Jim and I definitely believe that this is the right place for her to be. The Dr's. @ Beaumont have confirmed that it is for sure a bone infection in her left hip. We just got back (4:30pm) from another ultrasound on the hip to look at the amount of fluid. Now we are just waiting for the Dr. to come back again to tell us what they want to do. Bailey is sleeping at the moment 4:50pm, she is so peaceful. I am so thankful that God has borrowed such a beautiful little girl to me...I am the priveledged one! I know we will make it through this, it's just so frustrating waiting for answers. I'm exhausted and it seems that when the Dr's. talk I don't fully understand what they mean. Thanks to all the supporting comments on our blog, it gives us something more to hold on to. Keep praying...and I'll update when I hear more.

Well, this morning we got the results of bone scan that they did yesterday. The results show that Bailey has an infection growing in her left hip. They did do another MRI on her hip today to see if anything changed from the previous MRI done on Saturday. The results show that she now has 3 spots of possible infection in the hip area. We are being transfered to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak (Detroit). U of M doesn't take our insurance, but the Dr.'s assure us that they are just as good. We haven't left yet and they can't give us a actual time it will happen...we just know that it will be this evening. Please pray...I'm trying not to be nervous! Trusting in Him!!

Here is a picture of Mr. Froggy, he went into surgery with Bailey and the nurses put a cap on his head and a mask on his mouth also...just to comfort her. They have been so awesome here. They are all taking extra special care of Bailey, because her Daddy works here and they all really like him.

Last night was another hard night. Bailey spiked a 103 temp and kept it for about 3 hours. Today we woke up and by 9:30am we were down having the first 2 phases of her bone scan done. Then we had to go back to our room and wait for 3 hours, so that the dye can move throughout her body. Then at 12:30pm she went down to have the final phase of this test done. It took 20 minutes and she was soooo good, I just told her to try and sleep (because you have to stay super still). We still haven't heard the results of the bone scan yet. This should show if there is any infection in the bone. My prayer is that they don't find anything. It may just be a bacterial staph infection in her blood (possibly caused by the after affects of a strep throat episode late this summer). I guess sometimes when you get strep throat, it can still stay in your body and travel to different parts of the body. Strange...I know but that's what the Doctor's are telling us. Here is a picture of Bailey painting a little figurine that someone brought her. Great things to keep her mind off being here. Thanks everybody...we love you so much!

They did give Bailey some pepcid for her stomach last night so sleeping was a LITTLE better. In between them her 103 temp. that lasted about 2 hours long, even after they gave her tylenol w/ codeine and motrin almost on top of each other. whew!! Plus, they came in at 2:00am to draw blood again...which she did NOT like AT ALL. The Dr.'s started coming in at 8:00am and started ordering more tests. 1st= CT scan of the head, 2nd= ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis area, 3rd= x-ray of the chest (still a dry cough), 4th= EKG of the on chest, 5th= EKG/ultrasound of the heart. Sounds like most of the tests have come back normal...we do have a question to ask about something we read on one of the reports. We will ask the Dr. tomorrow morning. The Dr.'s have told us that they are ordering a bone scan tomorrow sometime. They are pretty certain that this will show the infection if there is one. Let's pray they find out something...

Well at about 8:30pm tonight, Bailey had a surgical procedure done on her hip to draw some fluid from the hip joint. When the Dr. got in, he found no fluid to draw a sample from. So that is a good thing, I am praising God that she did not have to be completely opened up to get an infection out. Now...they still don't know what is the cause of all of this. The way they are talking we will be here a few days. Bailey is saying a lot tonight, "I just want to go home, I don't want to be sick anymore." Please pray that we get good sleep tonight!! They just gave her Tylenol w/codeine for the pain, so maybe that will help. I will post more when I have an update.

Rough night last night...about every 15 minutes Bailey would wimper about her stomach ache. Not much good sleep. The Dr. came in this morning and said that they did find out that she has a "staph infection" growing in her blood culture that they took. I asked what is that from...they can't pin point it. They have put her on a new antibiotic...Jim says it's the stongest one available. She is complaining a lot about her left hip hurting still. They are checking into a possible joint infection. A lot of "I don't know's," which is driving me crazy. It's wearing on me emotionally, so pray that I keep it together. I hate seeing her in pain and not being able to make it better. They are telling me that we will be staying a few more nights possibly. More later...

If you are reading this blog, please take a moment to pray for our daughter Bailey Jeanne. We are in Bay Med hospital and they are running tests. Bailey has had a fever since Wednesday evening. Sometimes it gets as high as 104 degrees and that scares me. She has lots of stomach pain today. She has a bacteria infection in her blood...but can't find out what is causing it yet. Please pray for wisdom for the Doctors. The not knowing WHAT is wrong is the hardest part. I've always been able to make her hurt go away and not being able to do that is heart wrenching. I'll keep you posted...

Schools out...Hurray! Well, I've successfully made it through my 1st year of teaching. I'm looking forward to relaxing a little. I start my 1st masters course on June 28th and I'm a little nervous (because it's been so long since I've taken classes) I'll let you know how it goes.

This past week has been a busy one at the Leavitt Household. Jimmy graduated last Sat., June 7th and we just had his Graduation party yesterday. A fun time was had by all ... Here are a couple pictures to share.

Ok...Ok...so becoming a teacher is harder than I thought it was going to be. Finding the time for my blog this year has been a challenge. Actually, finding the time to do anything extra for myself has been a huge challenge. I thought that teaching would be easy...all I had to do was teach them what I know about technology...ha...I was WRONG!! There is sooooo much more to teaching and I have a new found respect for all teachers of the world. This year has been good ...despite my getting used to it and making adjustment in my life. I thank God for an supporting husband. In the beginning, I think he may have thought that I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I will always remember, one of the most important things that he said to me was "WE will make it through this Tam...I promise." He has been so helpful around the house and I couldn't ask for a better match for me. Thank you Jim...I love you dearly!! Well, I have a lot of updating to do...I truely am sorry to those of you that actually look at my blog. I really loved being a blogger...but just haven't had the time this year. I will try to make more time, as we are getting closer to the end of school.

OK...so we've been a little busy lately and I haven't posted any pictures. We have been busy with going to games lately, with Bailey and her soccer...Jimmy and his Tennis, and Brett with his football games...Whew!!! Do you think we could handle anymore??

Yesterday, I was folding some laundry and I turned around and saw Bailey playing in the laundry basket. "I can still fit, Mama!!" Isn't she hillarious?? She's 6!!!

I've been busy this summer taking Senior Pictures. My hearts desire is to be a Professional Photographer some day. But for now I'll keep my day job and I'll remain an amateur. Jimmy and I have been busy capturing the perfect pose this summer...I've truely enjoyed this!

Ryan's girlfriend, Tia (left) and Ryan (right) wanted me to take them out the beach last night to take some couple pictures and I ended up taking some individual pictures too. Although, Ryan is not a senior...he wanted to steal the lime light for a second. Great pictures of both!!

Vacation at Mesick...

Last week, we spent a much needed family vacation at Mesick, just relaxing. The calming sense of Mesick is tranquil...just watching the swans on the river or the occasional fish jump or just hearing the water fold on the shore. Our family LOVES this place, as it brings peace to all of us.

Yesterday we drove down to Ohio to our nephew Keone's Graduation party. We had a great time spending the day with the Kehr family. As you can see, Bailey & her cousin Nina couldn't get enough of each other. They are little hams and lots of fun to watch.

Kiya & I completed her 8 weeks of Basic Obedience Class last Wednesday evening and I can say that she successfully graduated class. To graduate class, you had to teach your dog a trick that you were not taught in class. So, we taught Kiya to give us a "High Five"...

I would have to say that I got more out of this class than I thought. Not only did I teach Kiya some basic commands, but I grew in confidence as a trainer.

What a Gorgeous...Beautiful Day!!! A great day to watch a soccer game. Today was Bailey's first game at the Bay Area Soccer Association, and what a little star she was!!! We are new to the soccer scene, so were didn't know what to expect. She caught on real fast and LOVES it already. She won her 1st game and even scored 3 goals herself.

Bailey turned 6 years old on Saturday March 10th. Grandpa Leavitt came over to visit on Sunday and wore his cowboy hat, Bailey ran and got her cowboy hat that she got for her birthday and I took a cute picture of them together. Cute huh!!

Today at 6:46pm...Bailey Jeanne lost her

front tooth!!!

This is actually her 4th tooth that she has lost...but it's her first FRONT tooth that she's lost. She did it ALL by herself...I'm so proud of her!!

Pet Update...

Well, Kiya is now almost 13 weeks old and is growing fast. I think she's gained 10 lbs. since we brought her home. Her ears are both up now and she's starting to listen better ever day.

Buddy, on the other hand...is getting more used to this strange creator that has come into his domain. You see...Buddy was used to lounging around wherever he saw fit and now it is a different story. Every time Kiya comes around Buddy goes into defense mode and he arches his back. This past week, they have started to chase each other around the furniture. The funny thing is, Buddy seems to be just a little bit faster and he can jump over the gate and be safe in an instance. It's quite comical actually...
I snapped a picture today of Kiya after the cat jumped over to get safe from her...Cute huh!!

Jim & I took Bailey to the Frankenmuth Snow Festival a couple weekends ago. Here are a couple of pictures of her riding the rides. She had a blast...and we saw tons of awesome snow sculptures and ice carvings. We even saw some HUGE Clydesdale horses...they are so beautiful.

New Addition...

Adding another member to your family is a HUGE decision...and Jim & I have pondered over this decision for a couple of years now. I just wanted to let all of you know that we have added another baby girl to our family and her name is "Kiya" (hee hee)

She is an Akita...and she's 11 weeks old and full of energy. She's like a little teddy bear, she currently weighs about 22 lbs...but someday will weigh around 100 lbs. She will be a BIG dog.
About 4 years ago, we lost our other Akita "Keisha" to cancer and Jim and I vowed to get another Akita someday. Keisha was the BEST dog we ever had...so smart and very loyal to our family. Puppies are alot of work to train and we were just waiting for the right time. It's like having another baby again. We got out are old baby gates so she doesn't have full reign of the house...and we watch her like a hawk to we eliminate as many accidents as possible.

Bailey decided she wanted to help me bake cookies Friday night...she was a BIG help...I couldn't have done it without her. But after 10 dozen...and almost 12 midnight...I turned around and found her sleeping on the counter so peacefully. Today was a gorgeous day spent together at Grandmama's house! I am thankful for the close family that I have. We have always been a close family, so I know no different. We enjoy picking on each other, laughing together, taking in God's beauty while enjoying a peaceful pontoon ride. I am thankful for parents that taught us to remain close. We have the ability to take a moment and truely BE THERE for each other. The values that I have learned I am passing on to my children. Thank you Lord for my close family.

This past Sunday we had a family day at the Beaverton Pumpkin Farm on M-18. This has become a yearly tradition for our families. Thank you Lord for giving us such a beautiful day. All the grandkids had a fun day together, we ended our day with everyone picking a special pumpkin and painting it at James & Tasha's house.

Today, Tiff and I took the girls and Ryan to Warmbier Farms in Auburn to enjoy the pumpkin farm and see some animals in the traveling zoo. I know it's been a while since I've posted some pictures...but it's been hectic lately with school starting and the demands of work. I am excited to say that Bailey "loves" Kindergarden. I've seen huge growth in her already. She can't wait to go to school EVERY day. Her teacher is Mrs. Deyarmond at Bangor West. And I'm happy to say, that "I" made it through her first day of school without crying. She's growing up toooooo fast!

Crystal Mountain Resort Weekend

We went to Crystal Mountain Resort on August 19-20 weekend and stayed in the most beautiful Condominium as a family. On Saturday we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was beautiful...and thanks to Tia (Ryan's girlfriend) we had a family photo taken. Jim and I cherish these moments...as there are not to many these days where we are ALL together for any length of time. We had a great weekend as a family just lounging around. Sunday we went to Frankfort and spent the day at the beach. Here are a few pictures from our weekend together!
